Popular Angry Birds gaming franchise Rovio is all set to bring its second title Amazing Alex. The mobile gaming company has made an official announcement in Finnish TV. Amazing Alex will be based on ‘Casey’s contraptions’ which Rovio has purchased from Myster Coconut and Snappy Touch. The theme will be along the lines of a Rube Goldberg physics puzzle.
The Announcement
The announcement came a day after the new title was rumored. CEO of the mobile game developer based in Finland, Mikael Hed told YLE TV that they had brought the rights for ‘Casey’s Contraptions’ a puzzle game and will release a new title based on it named ‘Amazing Alex’. He said that the game would be about a keen young boy, ‘who loves to build things’.
Finnish gaming franchise Rovio is doing well after crossing 1 million downloads of Angry Birds in the last two years and last year the revenue was quoted at a staggering $98 million. Just last month, Rovio has launched an Angry Birds theme park in Finland. Now the new title will debut soon in iOS and Android gadgets and will later extend to all platforms.

Success in the gaming industry today comes with a lot of effort and luck and franchises are not ready to take much risk. Instead of developing games from scratch, it seems the best thing to do in the mobile and social game industry is to acquire popular and established franchises and use their resources. Social gaming franchises like Rovio and Zynga are buying out proven franchises to bring out new titles. Yet for the young Rovio the new title is a bit hastened well, everything changes quickly.
