In the beginning, of the fourth quarter Apple Inc. becomes the world’s largest company manufacturing smartphones by overtaking Samsung Electronics. With the use of iPhones, Apple remains strong in the category of fastest developing area of cell phones, according to Gartner Inc. According to reports by the Stamford (Connecticut – based researcher) around a quarter of smartphones sold were iphones raising Apple’s market share from 15.8 percent to 23.8 percent.
We all are aware of Apple’s hardwork, and it has now paid making Apple world’s third largest vendor in manufacturing mobiles overtaking LG Electronics, which now stands, fifth after ZTE Corp. Nokia Oyi stands fourth taking a lead over Samsung Electronics Co. annual sales report says that smartphones having PC like benefits especially the quad-core processors increased by 47 percent to around 149 million units.
Analysis on smartphones:
Robert Cozza, Gartner Analyst from Egham, U.K. quoted that, in Western part of Europe, the increase in the sales of iPhones saved the smartphones market from collapsing after the consecutive records of slow sales. According to Cozza, she does not expect Apple to match the last record of 35.5 million sales of iPhones as iPhone 4S placed demands in holidays. Google’s release Android worked on almost all the smartphones sold last year. Samsung stood second in the list of largest vendors of smartphone gadgets.
Nokia’s Symbian suffered a loss in shipments from 32.3 percent to 11.7 percent as the focus was deviated to Microsoft’s Windows phone. Nokia Lumia’s inception in the field seemed to adopt Microsoft’s market to 1.9 percent from 3.4 percent in 2011’s fourth quarter. According to Gartner’s analysis, older versions of Microsoft are being phased out.
Nokia retains its place in the list of vendors:
Although Nokia suffered a decline in the mobile market share from 27.1 percent to 23.4 percent. However, it somehow managed to maintain its position as a year ago. However, Apple grabbed the market by standing thirdly in the list of mobile phone manufacturers.
