The Canon EOS Rebel T3i is a mid range digital SLR camera with a maximum resolution of 18MP complete with top-notch flash, autofocus, white balance and exposure settings. Being a DSLR it has many options for the serious photographer. It is a terrific choice for creative videographers, but it is not worthy of an upgrade from the much better EOS Rebel T2i.
The Canon EOS Rebel T3i SLR camera has an 18 MP optical CMOS sensor and a 3X zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 35mm. There is an optical viewfinder, and the 3-inch flip out display has made the DSLR design useful for difficult shoots. It records video at 1080p HD quality at 30, 25, or 24fps or at 720p HD at 60 or 50fps and has decent image sensitivity even at high ISO settings- there is only remarkably little image noise even at ISO 3200 and 6400.
The controls are customary SLR type, and kits include standard 18 to 55 mm lenses. It supports SD cards and sports an HDMI out which has become customary in most mobile gadgets now.
Pros and Cons
The Canon EOS Rebel T3i is a slick DSLR camera that brings out fabulous pictures of top quality.
The Rebel T3i is actually an upgrade of the T2i but it does not perform as well its predecessor does. The Live View mode is slower, and images are not as sharp as in the T2i. The T3i is also not as quick as the T2i. Hardly anything else has changed other than the new 3-inch LCD that can flip out, which is extremely useful for taking difficult shots. The T2i can still be considered the best of this mid range DSLR product line from Canon and at $799.99 is cheaper by $100.
