New Year’s Resolutions and Going Green
It’s that time of year again and what better time to start thinking of how to improve our lives with our annual set of New Year’s resolutions. And resolving to live a greener and more eco friendly way of life is now a common set of goals for many people when they come up with their annual New Year’s resolution list.
But New Year’s resolutions are notoriously hard to stick too and living greener does come with sacrifices that some people find hard to continue but before you abandon your attempts at a greener lifestyle, here are some tips to help you to live a more eco friendly lifestyle.
* Recycle more. It can be a slight chore, separating all that waste but recycling is key to reducing the impact we make on the planet. And there are plenty of recycling bins that can help you organise what you throw out into separate compartments.
* Try and drive less. CO2 from cars is one of the leading causes of climate change so start by cutting down on unnecessary journeys and any trip that takes less than five minutes by car – consider walking. Not only will using the car less reduce your carbon footprint it will also save you money.
* Buy eco friendly products wherever possible. Consider not just the products themselves but where they come from, try and shop locally and use local suppliers. When it comes to clothing, try organic cotton or bamboo clothes they are far more sustainable and are more comfortable than you think.
* Waste less energy. Try to remember to turn of lights and gadgets around the home. We can all live a lot greener just by cutting down on wastage. Consider and energy monitor top let you control how much electricity you are using and to help you identify areas of waste.
