Olympus has carved a niche for itself in the digital camera market and its latest offering. The Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS is sure to impress hardest of critics. This rugged, compact camera offers a f2.0 maximum aperture. The most remarkable feature of the camera is that it can survive drops until 6.6 feet and can withstand low temperatures up to 14 degrees F. The 12 megapixels camera sports a 3-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 614K dots. Either the computer or the wall adapter, which comes with the set, can charge it.
Pros
The Olympus Tough TG-1iHS has a sizeable 2.0 lens, which offers fast performance and boasts of an excellent image quality for a camera of this class. The body design of the camera is impressive, and it is water, dust and freezes proof. The fast lens has provisions for adding a converter lens, which enables more flexibility in shooting. The camera also has an inbuilt Flash and LED illuminator and is capable of taking 5 shots in one high-speed burst. It also supports full 1080p HD video recording that gives this camera a slight edge over the competition in the same price range. The Li-90 battery lasts much longer, and you are guaranteed freedom from frequent battery shutdowns.
Cons
There are some trivial issues with the design of this camera, which a customer may not even notice. Some customers have complained that there is a ticking sound when you are shooting videos, but we believe that this is normal. Chances are that the sound actually comes from the optical zoom, or it can be because the camera has been fully waterproofed. Whatever it is, it is certainly not a negative trait of this cute, compact camera.
However, the proprietary charging cable can certainly put off some of the potential buyers, but apart from this minor hiccup, the Olympus Tough TG-1iHS is truly worth the price tag of $369.99.
