The Panasonic Lumix DMC- ZS20 is reportedly the world’s thinnest 20X optical zoom digital camera, and the tug of war for the sleekest gadgets with maximum zoom is ongoing. The compact megazoom camera with new sensors and image processors is expected to deliver better quality and performance especially for low light snaps.
Lumix ZS15 was also announced and comes with a 12 MP MOS sensor, 14 MP CCD sensors, a 3-inch high-resolution LCD screen and improved photo and video quality. The ZS20 available in silver, black, white and red will be retailing for $349.99 while the ZS15 available in silver and black will retail for $279.99.
The camera is just 1.1 inches thick, and the lens can extend up to 480 mm. The Lumix’s Leica lens starts widely at 24 mm; the long lens has, obviously, a large zoom for its depth.
The camera has a high sensitivity MOS sensor of 14 MP and runs on Venus Engine image processor, which allows you to take photos in quick succession with up to 10 frames per second. The camera can also be used for 60p HD video recording in the ACVHD format.
Other Important Specs
Other features of the Panasonic Lumix ZS20 include a 3 inch LCD touchscreen with 460K dot resolution, support for charging with the help of a USB, and a built in GPS facility. The GPS map data is included in the DVD bundle supplied and just need to be installed on the camera. It gives detailed views with resolution up to one in 25,000.
Another useful addition is the improved panorama capture- you just need to pan and shoot and the Lumix handles the rest. The high dynamic range (HDR) feature allows you to have more balanced exposure to photos and videos.
