iPhone 5 Rumors Springing up for Apple’s iPhone 5

New Dock Connector

The iPhone 5 would have a new dock connector according to the Apple centric blog, iMore. The familiar dock connector of iPads, iPods and iPhones, may be done away with for saving space inside of its gadgets. Apple has always been on the run, to shrink the space occupied by mobile components.

Apple is not expected to use the outdated microUSB port that is presently used by most of the mobile phone industry or the Thunderbolt standard, according to iMore. The new docking port is said to be of a new design.

How it Affects iOS Devices

Using a micro dock would mean the entire iDevice gadgets and accessories would become obsolete. Third party accessories will now be useless and cannot be used. However, there may be a strong, practical reason for ditching the dock connector. According to VentureBeat.com, making the dock connector small would free some space, which can be used perhaps for using a battery with a better life. This is after considering that the iPhone 4S has the least battery life than the previous generations.

The ‘Micro’ Dock Design

Apple is now no more relying on using a power cord to transfer information to its mobile devices. Apple now allows updates of the OS, applications, and media over the air using its iCloud services. Apple’s other network connections like Wi-Fi Sync and similar device connections have improved considerably. Nevertheless, the dock connector will be more than connecting to accessories and charging the devices.
